Clarkdale was founded in 1912 as a mining town and is an early example of a planned community. It was notably advanced in technology for its time, complete with electricity, running water, telephone, and sewer services. After the mine closes in 1950, the town was officially incorporated and is now celebrated for its beautifully designed community complexes and facilities.
